| Is there any software or service that allows downloads of songs in track format so that one could manipulate or make new mixes of songs? I think I asked this a couple of years ago but was thinking maybe someone had gotten around to offering this. Would love to have any BC song where I could silence all tracks but the guitar or vocal or drum etc. and listen to hidden nuggets or learn parts or mix a stripped down version. |

| u'd need the master tracks for that, which at a guess you wont get your hands on. Just record it all yourself! |

a while ago on iTunes you could download David Bowie's single Space Oddity, it came witha set of 'stems' so you could remix it yoursef. I think that Linkin park have just done that on thier website as well.

Marillion had a competition a while back where you could remix any (or all) of the tracks off Anoraknophobia. Each "song" cost £10 or £60 for them all. You then remixed them, sent them in etc.
It was a brilliant experience - I'd love to do something similar with some BC tracks.
By the way - none of my tracks came close to winning - I misuderstood the competition and only used the tracks supplied - you were actually supposed to create new tracks etc - not my idea of a remix. I loved the extended 12" remixes in the 80's and did something like that. I like them anyway :-)
What's the chances of doing anything with BC tracks? |

Yeh the Linkin Park stems you can get from quite a few websites.
Regarding the original question, you can extract the vocal from the song but you wouldn't be able to extract the bass, drums, guitar etc. |

There are quite a few different software that you can use. If you do a search in Google or I'm sure there is plenty videos on YouTube to show you.
I forgot to say that it wont work with every single one, the vocal has to be right in the middle of the track. The bass, drums and guitar are both left and right of it. |

| It's something called "centre cancelling" - it's not all that great - depends what you want to do. |

If you do a "Blog" search for "Mogg" files, you will see that the videoGame Rockband has separated tracks from Hundreds of well known bands.
Not BC unfortunately.
Oh,....and when you find them, they separate and play in the Freeware Audacity. |

| If anyone wants the acapella to IABC give me a shout, it's not bang clear but would be ok if you are putting it on another track. |

They have learnt mnat BC songs from original listing, have these tabs.
I have 2 boys that are keen to re-release some Stuys lesser known songs what are your favorites.
BC certainly never ran out of ideas when it came to songs I absolutely love WTF.

| Tony - I haven't done anything for a long time - just don't have the time these days. Some of the songs you mention ring a bell so maybe they've been done by Colin Dawson. All the tabs were transferred to John G's site - I'm on the Blackberry at the moment so can't find the web address. Can anyone help??? |

| I use a software package called "guitar and drum trainer" made by Renegade Minds. It is basically a slow-downer, ie you can slow a piece of music down without changing the pitch of the notes, handy for working out what is being played and then notating it. It has loads of other functionality for fitering different frequencies in or out and for changing the keys of songs for singing or playing along to. You can download a trial version to experiment with for free-might be worth a try........... |
