Vampire Weekend played Saturday Night Live last weekend and their song Giving up The Gun has a real similar sound to intro drums of In A Big Country...Over and Over and Over again.
Right before Stuart sings "SHAA" BC's drums go
BA BA BE BUM BA SSHHAAAA!!!
Check out Vampire Weekend's song. Their drummer uses the BC intro drum lick throughout their whole song.

| Agreed, that is Mark's drumbeat, but seriously, Vampire Weekend is an AWFUL band. Absolutely terrible or rubbish as you folks say across the pond. |

| True. Listening to In A Big Country right afterwords just shows how much MORE there is to the Big Country sound when compared to anyone else. No Contest. |

That's my point - even Mark Brzezicki couldn't explain it better than this.
BA BA BE BUM BA SSHHAAAA!!! - you only need to read it and you can hear it. |

Hi
Re Vampire Weekend,
You ever seen them live?
I did the other week in Manchester and they were AMAZING. Particularly the drummer.
The music isnt really my thing and the album, whilst pleasant enough on the ears, isn't really a mind blower. It's got lots of space and an almost childlike approach to melody.
However, you watch them live and they are an immensely talented band. The singer is charismatic (unusual in this day and age), his guitar playing is as solid as a Brucie Steetown special, the bass and keyboards are just massive in sound and then there's the drummer. Oh my word, the things that boy can do.
As I say, not my 'bag' at all normally but I cant recommend this band highly enough - especially as a live act. |
