February
The band sign to Track Records, the legendary home of Jimi Hendrix and The Who in the 60's (original owner Chris Stamp having given the rights to band manager Ian Grant) which is relaunched by Everton FC owner Bill Kenwright and Grant.

March
Recording at Rockfield and Monnow Valley in Wales commences with Rafe Mckenna co-producing.(March through to May)

July
A busy month. Over one weekend the band play Shepherds Bush Empire and Jacques Villeneuve's Lucky Strike Formula 1 party and the next day are "Special Guests" to Rod Stewart at Hampden Park in Glasgow followed by an appearance at The Inns Of Court Ball at The Temple in London that same night. As if thats not a busy schedule they drove straight from London to Gatwick for a flight to Nashville in USA to make the video for "Fragile Thing" and shoot a photo session for the album plus arrange their own "buzz" gig in Nashville AND record a 6 track live session for UK promotional use. Eddi Reader makes her contribution to the "Fragile Thing" video at Dungeness in Kent.

Nationwide promotional tour also takes place.

August
"Fragile Thing" the first single off the new album is released. Radio 2 gives maximum support in UK. CIN (the BPI chart watchdog) bans the single for "too many folds in the packaging". Hence the single does not chart.

They play in Hyde Park at the "Wicked Women" concert along side ÒEmma (Babyspice) Bunton, Ronan Keating, Lisa Stansfield, Robbie Williams and Republica. An unlikely assembly of acts if there ever was one.

Appearances at Liverpool and Manchester local radio outdoor parties too and instores in Glasgow and Edinburgh.

September
As part of Vanessa Redgrave & Bill Kenwrights "Return to Pristina" the band fly to Macedonia and perform in Kosovo.

3rd Big Country convention takes place in Egham, Surrey. Eight studio album "Driving To Damascus" is released on Track Records.

October
Stuart appears on "Never Mind The Buzzcocks".

"Perfect World" / "See You", the second single from "Driving To Damascus" is released.

Band appear on "Weekend Watchdog" with 7.5 mill viewing figures.

November
Stuart goes missing. The much publicised mix up between artist and management.

December
Band tour UK and headline Aberdeens Millenium celebrations. BBC record Newcastle City Hall.
