Record "No Place Like Home" with Pat Moran producing at Rockfield Studios.

Big Country audition new drummers and decide on Chris Bell to join them as a session drummer.

Shoot video for next single with Ex-Eurythmic, Roger Pomphrey directing.

"Republican Party Reptile" is the first single taken from "No Place Like Home", and enters UK chart at 37.

Shoot video for follow up single, again with Roger Pomphrey directing.

The album, "No Place Like Home", released

Big Country feature on German TV, filmed at a concert in Bonn and televised across Europe to great acclaim.

Big Country bring Glasgow City Centre to a standstill when over excited fans spilled out on to the roads and start jumping on cars, during a PA at the City's Tower Records. Despite pleas from the band for the crowd to calm down, the police finally ordered them to cut the set short.

October
The second single, "Beautiful People" is released.

UK tour began with five sold out shows at London's Town & Country Club.

The band decided to organise a competition for local bands to support them at the various venues on the tour, so all the local radio stations aired the competition and shortlisted the applicants for the band to make final choice.

November
After almost ten years, Big Country and Phonogram part company.
